Software Development Engineer – Clean Energy

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Doosan GridTech’s design services for utility customers and support control and optimization software development.
  • Work with utility customers to understand value creation mechanisms for distributed energy resources in their system. Develop and use technical and economic models that characterize distribution systems, bulk grid operations, and distributed energy resources to optimally size and locate resources, and determine optimal combinations of applications. Select appropriate modeling tools to meet customer needs within project scope. Author technical reports that provide analytical results and a narrative to support sound decision-making by utility customers, enabling customers to obtain approval for distributed energy resource deployments from internal stakeholders and/or regulators.
  • Develop and use analytical tools to create and refine power system control methodologies that can be implemented within Doosan GridTech’s software products. Use models to quantify, evaluate, and improve the technical performance of control schemes/algorithms. Develop methodologies for calibrating algorithms within specific distribution circuit scenarios. Identify new ways in which networked distribution sensors and actuators can work together to better manage distribution circuits, particularly on circuits with high PV penetration. Contribute to technology development and create specifications for circuit management methodologies.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years demonstrated experience in electrical power system analysis, using advanced power system modelling tools. Experience on utility electrical power system design and/or utility bulk power system resource optimization is strongly preferred.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power System Operations, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or equivalent, or MS with 3+ years of direct electrical power systems analysis experience.
  • Alternatively, quantitatively minded applicants with engineering degree and MBA will be considered, if coupled with strong utility experience.

  • Create and coordinate the delivery and quality assurance of key engineering drawings and reports. Manage the PE certification process for electrical design drawings.
  • Provide engineering support for component solicitations including the evaluation of power conversion systems and battery systems from multiple vendors.
  • Author customer-facing documents to help them implement energy storage designs (e.g. installation plans).
  • Work with others in Doosan GridTech to identify design and performance improvements in Doosan GridTech’s delivered systems.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years demonstrated experience in electrical power system engineering. Experience on utility electrical power system projects or distributed energy resource projects is strongly preferred.

Contract Manager

Contract Manager

Doosan GridTech has a career opportunity for a highly motivated Contract Manager. Use your contract management skills to aid the project management team in implementing EPC projects in a timely and profitable manner. The Contract Manager will help Doosan GridTech translate its contractual obligations into actionable tasks and finally into successful completion of EPC projects. The position reports to the Chief Legal Officer.

Required

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial activities, strong understanding of contractual terms and conditions, primary experience in contract management and dispute settlement
  • Outstanding ability to communicate clearly with cross functional teams
  • Practical knowledge of general and specific contract conditions contained in construction and equipment supply contracts
  • Demonstrated knowledge of conflict resolution and negotiation

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and maintain all required filings for business, engineering and construction licenses in the US.
  • Review and negotiate non-disclosure agreements and project-related supply and subcontract agreements in conjunction with legal counsel.
  • Support requests of the project managers with the goal of attaining the commercial objectives of the projects. This will include customer correspondence, risk and opportunity management and any activity necessary to support the project team objectives.
  • Ensure that appropriate project procedures relative to notification, follow-up of, and replies to correspondence, the maintenance of files at the jobsite, and change/variation orders are properly understood by the members of the project teams and implemented in the projects.
  • Ensure efficient application of the claim management process. Using cost control functions, establish and implement a systematic identification system for budgeting, cost recording, the processing and monitoring of change/variation orders and/or proposals for change, to ensure that all costs relative to requests and additional work are noted, recorded and captured.
  • Provide a detailed analysis of each contracts, and prepare a contract summary analysis for issuance to the project team showing the key commercial issues of the agreement. Participate in the preparation of the project commercial strategy and its implementation.
  • Upon request from management, oversee and/or resolve Guaranty/Warranty specific problems.
  • Identify the needs of the project team and the organization, including members of the jobsite personnel, with respect to training and sharing of exemplary practices in matters of commercial awareness, contract(s) management, change/variation orders, and ensure the training and formal coaching of any personnel identified.
  • Create and maintain a Project Management tool box containing appropriate form documents.
  • Oversee and handle appropriate steps for project surety issues (i.e. Payment/Performance Bonds, Letters of Credit and Parent Company Guarantees, etc.). Monitor project insurance requirements and timely submission of insurance certificates to the Customer.
  • Administer the project closeout procedure, including lien and lien waivers etc.

Power System Applications Engineer

Doosan GridTech is actively seeking a Power System Applications Engineer to support our growing Turnkey Energy Storage System (ESS) business. Use your power systems engineering knowledge, vendor management skills and proposal-grade design background to provide technical applications support for Turnkey EPC proposals and contract projects which deploy storage solutions with Utilities and IPP customers who are incorporating distributed energy resources into the grid.

Required

  • Strong power system engineering skills
  • Experience working on utility-scale energy storage system projects (ESS), power systems engineering projects and product design
  • Understanding of energy storage system functions and stacked applications with utility-driven perspective on how functions can create value

  • Build Doosan’s ESS technology roadmap by performing technical due diligence of products and systems
  • Manage vendor/supplier relationships to deliver customer value

Doosan GridTech has an outstanding career opportunity for a Supply-Chain and Procurement Manager. We’re looking for an experienced commodity manager or someone from a technical background seeking a career-change and believe that that they have sufficient business acumen and knowledge of technology. Use your knowledge of distributed energy resources and the utility market landscape to deploy real-world solutions to customers who are incorporating distributed energy resources into the grid. The Supply-Chain and Procurement Manager position is a key driver in developing and optimizing our supply chain to support ESS projects in fast-growing utility and IPP markets to support our company growth in a high potential clean energy economy.

Required

  • Experience working on renewable energy power systems projects or new product launch initiatives.
  • Experience working with contracts and commercial negotiations with equipment suppliers.
  • Familiar with major equipment such as batteries, power converters/inverters, transformers, switchgear etc.
  • Strong project management skills, especially with project supplier planning, vendor evaluations and process improvement.
  • Ability to work with a small, fast-paced team to deliver customer value.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel periodically.

Desired

  • Direct procurement experience with major ESS components such as batteries, power conversion systems, and balance of system equipment.
  • Commodity management experience and exposure to value-chain analysis along with global manufacturing is a plus.
  • Knowledge of common utility equipment specifications.
  • Exposure to or experience with integrated electrical system design.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of Doosan GridTech’s Supply Chain function, supporting both proposal creation and contracting for in-flight ESS projects. Key equipment types include batteries, power conversion systems, and balance of system components for large-scale ESS projects.
  • Serve as Doosan’s lead negotiator with key equipment suppliers resulting in strong contracts that optimize price, schedule, and support for active ESS projects.
  • Work with Doosan’s Strategy Group to transition strategic technology suppliers from prospects into entities under contract and able to deliver for in-flight projects.
  • Establish long-term supply agreements that create cost benefits and supply prioritization for key strategic suppliers.
  • Serve as the engagement lead for key suppliers, guiding them from the proposal phase of a project through contracting and to Purchase Order.
  • Work with Doosan GridTech’s Project Delivery team to capture feedback and learning from in-flight project to incorporate into subsequent supplier contracts.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in a supply chain or techno-commercial role associated with EPC project delivery or electrical power equipment procurement. Experience with utility electrical power system projects or distributed energy resource technologies is strongly preferred.
  • BS in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations or related field with 5+ years of direct engineering experience or MS with 4+ years of direct experience in the field.
  • Supply chain or project management professional certifications such as PMP, CSCP, CPIM, CPSM, and SCPro are plus.

  • Assist with implementation of new business lines, performing financial analysis, completing market research, and validating go-to-market strategies.
  • Maintain documentation for core products, updating marketing material and demos and reviewing pricing and packaging strategy as needed.
  • Attend conferences, webinars, and seminars to learn about new market trends, frame the competitive landscape and network to identify potential partners and stakeholders.
  • Interact with market analysts and press outlets to communicate product capabilities and company strategy as needed.
  • Provide support to sales and business development efforts through training, client visits, proposal development, etc. as needed.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in a product management, consulting, or investment role.

  • Demonstrated academic achievement and aptitude, including BS/BA degree (Economics, Business, Science or Engineering fields preferred). Post-graduate degree not required but a plus.
