Power Systems Application Engineer

Doosan GridTech is actively seeking a Senior Power System Applications Engineer to support our growing Turnkey Energy Storage System (ESS) business. Use your power systems engineering knowledge, vendor management skills, and proposal-grade design background to provide technical applications support for Turnkey EPC proposals and contract projects which deploy storage solutions with Utilities and IPP customers who are incorporating distributed energy resources into the grid.

  • Strong power system engineering skills

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Sales team and the technical project management team to identify customer technical specifications during the proposal phase of a bid cycle
  • Develop and manage ESS solution design tool by collaborating with internal and external teams; Propose competitive ESS solution based on each RFP requirements
  • Lead the engineering integration of components (batteries, inverters, transformers, switchgear, etc.) that result in Doosan’s turnkey ESS offering; Drive updates and continuous improvement into Doosan’s designs
  • Support bankability analysis of potential vendor partners with an emphasis on technical capability
  • Build Doosan’s ESS technology roadmap by performing technical due diligence of products and systems
  • Manage vendor/supplier relationships to deliver customer value
  • Evaluate product and systems risk during proposal and post-award phase; once a project is awarded support Project Managers in the transition to project delivery

Qualifications

  • 7+ years demonstrated experience in electrical power system engineering
  • Experience working on utility-scale electrical power system projects or distributed energy resource projects is strongly preferred
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related electrical power systems field with 7+ years’ direct engineering experience within an electric utility or MS in Electrical Engineering or related electrical power systems field with 4 + years’ direct engineering experience
  • Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) in any state desired

This position will report to the Finance Manager and is responsible for general accounting for moderately complex accounting transactions, maintaining Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, account analysis and reconciliation, month-end close, financial reporting, financial analysis, and forecasting at a rapidly-growing company that is transforming the electric power system.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position will be responsible for analyzing, developing, and maintaining financial models, budgets, and forecasts for our products and large Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects, a monthly analysis of financial results, and providing decision making support.

Responsibilities

  • Support Doosan GridTech leadership by building and maintaining complex financial models, budgets, and analytic tools for measuring and forecasting company results and individual project performance.
  • Perform financial analysis on cash flow, operating results, and business plans to determine rates of return, capital/cash flow requirements, etc.
  • Create, maintain, and track cash flow projections at the project and company level
  • Present accurate monthly performance reports and budget forecasts, including cash flows, to Chief Financial Officer and Finance Manager.
  • Build relationships with other teams at Doosan GridTech to influence strategic decision-making, long-range planning, and forecasting.
  • Drive continual process improvement of the Company’s financial planning, including monthly, quarterly, and annual cycle analysis.
  • Conduct comparable analysis and market research to support internal financial analysis.

Project Delivery Analysis

  • Partner with Project Delivery Team, Finance, and other stakeholders to maintain cost tracking models to produce timely and accurate reports and forecasts regarding project performance.
  • Track and review project-related revenue, costs, and cash flow.
  • Produce accurate and timely financial reports and analyses for a diverse set of projects.
  • Assist Finance Manager, Accounting/ Finance team in understanding project financial performance.
  • Assist the finance manager with the annual budgeting and planning process by providing details supporting the bottom-up analysis.
  • Understand project scope, contract details, terms, and tax requirements and apply that knowledge to billing, tracking, and analysis of each project
  • Assist Project Delivery and Finance in the preparation of detailed customer invoices.
  • Review project proposals to ensure they are in line with company requirements.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years’ demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis. Preferably in the construction or EPC industry.
  • BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Support Doosan GridTech leadership by building and maintaining complex financial models, budgets and analytic tools for measuring and forecasting company results and individual project performance.
  • Perform financial analysis on cash flow, operating results, and business plans to determine rates of return, capital/cash flow requirements, etc.
  • Create, maintain, and track cash flow projections at project and company level
  • Present accurate monthly performance reports and budget forecasts including cash flows to Chief Financial Officer and Finance Manager.
